R&D Director

Engineer the Future of Audiology: Lead R&D at Interacoustics

Our purpose is to deliver user-friendly and innovative software solutions for our audiological instrumentation. R&D Interacoustics is located on our site in Middelfart, Denmark and our site in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and we have close corporation and co-development across the sites; software development is a team effort! We are driven by the commitment to provide innovative solutions for hearing healthcare professionals worldwide, and software solutions for medical instruments challenge us to push the boundaries of what is possible with products of high usability and with the necessary compliance documentation.

Shape Cutting-Edge Solutions

This role involves leading and supporting our R&D team, providing guidance to team leads, and enhancing our software development organization to develop cutting-edge software. The Director of R&D, Interacoustics will oversee all product development activities, manage budgets, supervise the department, and participate in strategic product planning.


You will have direct reports in both Middelfart, Denmark and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The task facing you is to spearhead our aim to develop high-quality software and ensure compliance with the level of documentation needed for a medica device context. Besides this, you will play a central role in coordination and execution of R&D with peers across Demant Diagnostics.

You will report to the CEO & President of Interacoustics and be a member of the top leadership team in Interacoustics.

Your task is to:

  • Lead the Interacoustics R&D team in product development and production transition.
  • Promote a culture of engagement, execution, and excellence in your organization and support the same across Diagnostics.
  • Maintain a healthy and effective collaboration between staff located in Denmark and Malaysia.
  • Support cooperation on software platforms and reusable modules across Diagnostics.
  • Enforce quality standards and processes to ensure product reliability.
  • Collaborate with senior management on product strategies and the product roadmap to support business growth.

Do you have what it takes?

We imagine you are an M.Sc. (cand.scient.) within software engineering or other engineering areas – combined with solid leadership experience. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience in leading remote teams, and a history of creating effective and documented success with developing high- performing teams. We work in a regulated industry where adhering to processes and maintaining structured documentation is critical for performing well in this role.


While your technical skills will enable you to think strategically about the direction of our product and software solutions and technologies, the most important factor is that you are motivated by people management.
