Every day, thousands of professionals rely on EPOS headsets for clear premium audio. To ensure our products work seamlessly with a wide variety of desk phones, softphones, UC platforms, and communication systems, we operate a sophisticated Telecommunication Lab. With our current lab maintainer retiring, we are looking for a passionate and structured System Administrator to take ownership of this critical environment.
This is a hands-on role where you oversee a fully functioning lab setup and help shape its future.
Your Role and Key Responsibilities
As our new System Administrator, you will manage, maintain, and further develop our Telecommunication Lab infrastructure. You will support R&D, Support, and external partners with their testing and development needs.
You will work with a wide range of technologies including PBX systems, VoIP, network infrastructure, firewalls, servers, telephony devices, and monitoring tools across both on-site and remote locations. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintain and administer the Telecommunication Lab, including softphones, desk phones, backend systems, and remote lab sites.
- Keep all equipment updated with the latest secure firmware and software versions.
- Manage firewall, VPN, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, and network configurations (currently pfSense-based).
- Oversee Linux servers (Debian), VMware ESXi, Proxmox test environments, and Synology backup systems.
- Monitor health system using e.g. Zabbix and ensure strong security across all components.
- Configure and manage VoIP systems, SIP profiles, PBX integrations, and softphone clients (Teams, Zoom, etc.).
- Handle firmware updates and SIP provisioning for a variety of IP desk phones.
- Assist Support and R&D teams with new Tele Lab infrastructure requests.
- Provide user support for lab equipment, access, and test setups.
- Coordinate with vendors, partners, and internal experts when specialized knowledge is required.
- Maintain clear documentation of systems, networks, configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
- Ensure remote lab locations remain secure, stable, and aligned with central configuration.
What You Bring
- Solid knowledge of IP networking and network security (CCNA or similar preferred).
- Experience with VoIP, SIP, unified communications, and telephony systems.
- Familiarity with desk phone provisioning and softphone platforms.
- Good understanding of Windows, macOS, and Linux administration.
- Structured, self-driven mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly in English.
- Creativity and willingness to adopt new technologies.
- Ability to coordinate and lead activities when needed.
