Senior mechanical engineer with an interest in PCB
We improve the quality of life for millions of people worldwide. That is what we do. It’s as simple as that.
What is not so simple, is how we do it. And this is where we need you!
At Oticon, we’re on a mission to develop world-leading hearing solutions. In our Design & Usability Group, we’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who’s passionate about product development—especially where mechanics meet electronics.
Have we caught your attention? Great, then read on!
Putting your fingerprint on our projects through mechanical PCB design
You’ll join the PCB team, responsible for designing ultra-compact flex PCBs for hearing aids, as well as rigid/flex PCBs for chargers and connectivity products. You’ll be a key player in the mechanical design of our hardware, collaborating with layouters, mechanical engineers, and production teams - especially our nearby NPI amplifier production site in Ballerup.
Some of your work tasks will be to
- design the Mechanical PCB model in close co-operation with the PCB Layouters and the mechanical team
- designing custom components for the Hearing Instrument
- work closely with our production facilities in Ballerup and Poland and support in solving issues related to the PCB assembly manufacturing
- take part in optimization of manufacturing processes and tolerances
- understand and expand the knowledge within the PCB material properties
Overall, you have solid design experience with good collaboration skills and can take a key role in leading the integration work.
In this role, you will:
- design mechanical PCB models in close collaboration with PCB layouters and mechanical designers
- create custom components for our hearing instruments
- support and troubleshoot PCB assembly issues with our production teams in Ballerup and Poland
- optimize manufacturing processes and tolerances
- deepen your expertise in PCB materials and properties
You’ll be hands-on from prototype to production—and everything in between. We even have our own prototyping center, where you can test your wildest ideas fast.
“Working with us, you get to put your fingerprints on current and future projects. We value creativity—even the crazy ideas. If you want to test it, we’ve got the tools to make it real.” says your new manager, Ebbe Jannes Larsen
This position offers more than design work. You’ll also:
- guide mechanical developers and plan design activities
- lead design work, reviews, and documentation
- help shape internal processes and development best practices
- support competence development and knowledge sharing within the team
Expect up to 5–10 travel days per year, primarily to Poland and other supplier sites.
Welcome to Team Mechanics & Tools
You’ll join 16 colleagues focused on integrating electronics and mechanics in our products. Our team owns the CAD systems, ensures robustness and reliability, and develops mechanical engineering tools and processes.
“It’s really important for me, that we have fun at work” says Ebbe with a smile and continues “It’s equally important for me, that we keep a healthy work/life balance, and value that we all do have a life outside work with family, friends and hobbies.”
We are part of Oticon’s Design & Usability Group, a 90-strong engineering community covering Mechanics, Electro-Acoustics, and User Experience. We drive hardware platform development from early concepts to mass production—all in-house.
We seek to deliver an intuitive and seamless user experience and interact with internal and external stakeholders across Device SW and HW. In collaboration with the Electronics group, we develop the complete Hardware Platforms consisting of both mechanical and electronic parts.
“The group focuses on mechanical part of the development, we play a small part in the big picture, i.e. the finished product. Sometimes we need to understand the bigger picture to understand the part we are working with, and the cool part of being a part of the R&D department here at Oticon is, that we have the whole circle of product development in-house. So, if you have a question for a colleague, you just get up, walk a few steps, and the person is sitting just there.” Says Ebbe
Mechanical engineer with a natural curiosity
You’re a mechanical engineer with a natural curiosity and the ability to zoom in on the details without losing sight of the bigger picture. Whether you have a few years of experience or are a seasoned expert, we have challenges that match your skill level.
You bring:
- Experience in mechanical development
- Knowledge of hardware integration (PCB, connectors, batteries, radios).
- Good collaboration skills, especially in cross-disciplinary teams.
And ideally experience or interest in:
- PTC Creo (3D CAD)
- mechanical PCB design and custom component creation.
- ECAD-MCAD collaboration
- robust design principles: DFM, DFA, tolerance stack-up.
- miniaturization techniques and PCB materials.
We are transitioning into working in the SAFe framework, so if you are not familiar with it already, don’t worry, we’ll get you the right training and get you up to speed.
“We push boundaries and focus on what really matters: the end-user experience. Every small improvement we make has the potential to make a big difference in someone’s life.” says Ebbe
