Smørum

- Shape the Architecture of our Next Generation Chipset Platforms!

We are looking for an experienced Digital IC Architect to join our chipset organisation and help define the next generations of our custom silicon platforms. In this role, you will take technical leadership for digital architecture, ensuring our ICs meet stringent requirements for performance, power efficiency, reliability, and integration in highly compact medical technology products.

Welcome to Chipset, a key division of our Research and Development department. We specialize in the creation of chipsets for our renowned hearing instruments and accessories. Our continuous pursuit of technological quality enables us to deliver professional-grade solutions in DSP processing, audio quality, connectivity, AI integration, and re-chargeability - all in compact form factors with minimal power consumption.

The Role

As a Digital IC Architect, you will translate systemlevel requirements into robust and scalable chip architectures. You will collaborate closely with systems engineering, digital design, analogue/mixedsignal teams, verification, firmware, and product management to define the architectural foundations of our future ICs. From early concept through execution, you will drive the toplevel architecture, interfaces, design guidelines, and the key technical decisions that shape the entire chip.

At times, you may also support selected digital design activities, particularly when rapid implementation of new chipset features is required.

The Chipset organisation operates within a SAFe Agile framework. In this role, you will serve as our digital SAFe architect and be part of the ART leadership team. You will work closely with developers, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners, and build strong relationships with stakeholders across electronics, system engineering, and firmware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the digital architecture for new custom ICs
  • Translate system level requirements into block level specifications, interfaces, and design constraints
  • Lead architectural exploration, modelling, and trade off analysis (power, area, performance, scalability)
  • Drive top level integration, clocking strategy, resets, and low power concepts
  • Review and approve RTL implementation to ensure alignment with architecture
  • Contribute to documentation, design guidelines, and long-term platform strategy
  • Support silicon bring-up and debug from an architectural perspective
  • Act as a technical mentor for engineers involved in digital IC development

About you

We imagine that you have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
  • Solid experience in digital IC architecture, SoC integration, or digital design (preferably in ASIC development)
  • Strong understanding of RTL design (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog)
  • Experience with system level modelling and architectural analysis
  • Knowledge of low power design techniques, clocking, and SoC integration
  • Experience with verification principles (UVM or similar) is an advantage
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to structure complex technical challenges
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines

If you are motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of chipset development at Demant, we encourage you to apply and help us improve the lives of millions through innovative technology.
