DSP Engineer

Denmark
Smørum

At Demant, DSP is at the heart of every listening experience we create. We’re looking for a DSP Engineer to join R&D Audiological Solutions and help develop audiological algorithms and hearing instrument features that make sound more natural, comfortable, and meaningful for people with hearing loss.

Your role

You will contribute across the full DSP development lifecycle, from innovation and concepting to implementation, verification, documentation, and launch support. Your work will help ensure strong performance, testability, maintainability, and product quality through collaboration, documentation, discussions, and code reviews.

Together with your team, you will:

  • Follow trends in DSP algorithms, tools, research, patents, and emerging technologies, and translate relevant knowledge into new ideas and product concepts.
  • Explore, evaluate, and mature DSP algorithm concepts for hearing instruments using simulations, reference models, and performance analysis.
  • Implement DSP concepts with attention to computational, power, memory, latency, numerical, and integration constraints.
  • Collaborate with embedded software developers to bring DSP concepts into real-time hearing instrument software and define relevant implementation tests.
  • Contribute to platform and system requirements, system design, configuration, verification strategies, and test case maturation.
  • Validate performance through sound studio measurements, listening tests, and analysis in collaboration with audiologists and test specialists.
  • Support product launches with technical documentation, feature validation, white papers, marketing input, invention disclosures, and patent opportunities.
  • Contribute to responsible and secure development by considering user safety, transparency, regulatory expectations, and AI-related questions where relevant.
  • Improve shared DSP tools, workflows, and processes with a focus on code quality, readability, testability, and ease of change.

What you bring

We are looking for someone with technical depth, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset—someone who enjoys learning, helping others, and moving work forward in a pragmatic way.
You are positive, grounded, quality-driven, service-minded, and able to balance curiosity with practical execution.

Your qualifications

  • A relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Acoustics, Signal Processing, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of DSP principles, algorithm development, simulation, modelling, and performance evaluation.
  • Experience implementing, testing, and documenting audio, acoustic, embedded, or signal processing systems.
  • Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C, C++, Simulink, or similar tools.
  • A structured approach to requirements, testability, documentation, code quality, reviews, and maintainable design.
  • Ability to collaborate across DSP, embedded software, audiology, system design, test, and product stakeholders.
  • Curiosity about research, patents, new tools, and emerging technologies.

Nice to have

  • Experience with hearing instruments, wearable audio, embedded DSP, real-time audio systems, fixed-point implementation, or resource-constrained platforms.
  • Experience with acoustic measurements, listening tests, clinical validation, verification strategies, technical documentation, patents, or product launch support.
  • Awareness of responsible technology development, regulatory considerations, AI-related compliance questions, Agile, SAFe, or similar product development setups.

Why join us?

Your work will directly support our mission: helping people with hearing loss experience the sounds of life. We offer a supportive team culture, strong onboarding, continuous learning opportunities, attractive holiday and parental leave benefits, and on-site benefits such as breakfast, fruit, quality coffee and tea, and access to our fitness centre.
This position is based at our headquarters in Smørum, Denmark.
