Human Resources Intern - New Grad Opportunity
Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the HR Director, the Human Resources Intern will focus in the areas of recruitment, compensation, and benefits administration. The HR Intern is an integral part of the HR team in Kitchener supporting the broader organization to achieve its overall mandate. This is an ideal opportunity for a new grad within an HR discipline ready to extend their HR career. Working with an international organization, with a unique Canadian-based headquarters, the successful candidate will learn the challenging and rewarding world of HR in an international development setting.

Responsibilities
- Act as an ambassador for the HR department while maintaining strong interpersonal connections.
- Collaborate with the payroll team regarding payroll inquiries from employees
- Assist the recruitment function regarding headcount requirements, recruiting, transfers, promotions/demotions and reductions in workforce.
- Prepare job advertisements, screening/selection, conducting interviews, employment and extending contracts.
- Conduct exit interviews to collect data in order to understand turnover trends
- Research and provide information pertaining to Provincial and Federal legislation to assure Company compliance.
- Manage the employee benefit program administration process (Health/RRSP/Other) by working with employees on set-up, inputting into the Company systems and completing follow-up through strong support and benefit management.
- Update and maintain electronic and hard copy documents (HRIS home page, SharePoint site, Bulletin boards, JHSC boards, etc.)
- Perform new employee orientation. Review and work alongside the HR Coordinator to update the program on a regular basis.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and a proactive approach to customer service.
- Other tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Education background in a Human Resources or related program.
- Designation or working towards the Certified Human Resources Professional is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in the areas of labour legislation, regulations, compensation practices, recruitment, and Human Resources procedures.
- Knowledge or experience of recruitment best practices.
- Experience with HRIS is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects required.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Must have experience with MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of employment law and legislation is required.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
- Ability to represent the Company in a professional and courteous manner.
Supervision Received
The Human Resources Intern reports directly to the Human Resources Director. May receive day-to-day direction (Recruitment, Benefits, etc.) by the HR Coordinator. Participates in determining Human Resources objectives and goals of assignments.
