Senior Accountant - Victoria British Columbia based

What You Will Do:
Reporting directly to the Director, Accounting, the Staff Accountant, Lead will take on senior responsibilities within the group. This role will also be a key partner to the Manager & finance team as it relates to accounting projects, ad-hoc exercises, and thought leadership. This role will allow the successful candidate to apply their existing accounting knowledge, learn new functions, and develop their accounting, collaborating, and leadership skillset.
Key responsibilities include:
- Possess sound knowledge of accounting practices including a good understanding of financial statements and budget processes
- Monthly inventory & COGS review and prepare journal entries.
- Annual inventory count coordination, reconciliation, and obsolete review.
- Reconciles intercompany transactions
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for Branded Partner clinics
- Prepare budgets and related reporting, ad hoc financial reporting, management reports for Branded Partner clinics
- Performs variance analysis for Branded Partner clinics
- Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and accounting activities within a cloud-based accounting and document storage system
- Prepares EHT remittances
- Preparing T2 corporate tax returns for Branded Partner clinics
- Back up for preparing T5s for Branded Partner
- Maintain fixed asset schedule, including new additions, disposal, and monthly amortization. Prepare notes for quarterly reporting.
- Prepare CAPEX monthly and quarterly reporting to track ongoing investments against budget.
- Maintain hearing practitioner education loan program & update schedules.
- Review rent payment against lease agreement and work with real estate team to investigate discrepancy.
- Backup for monthly lease entries and prepare notes for quarterly reporting.
What You Will Need:
- University Degree in Business or Finance
- > 5 years progressive accounting experience with experience with more complex accounting transactions
- CPA enrollment an asset however not required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Knowledge of Navision, Blueprint, Access, and other extraction//automation tools an asset
- Strong communication & problem solving skills
