R&D Device Hardware Portfolio and Technology Strategy Manager

Denmark
Smørum

We are on a journey to transform the way we plan, prioritize, and deliver cutting-edge hardware solutions, and that’s why we are looking for a new colleague to support our leadership team.

"This role offers the chance to shape the future of hardware development by guiding strategy, planning, and innovation at a global scale. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, shaping decisions that connect vision with real-world execution” says your new manager Michael Erhardt, Director R&D - Device Hardware, Architecture & Solution

Advising, supporting and sparring with the leadership team

In this new position, we’re looking for a goal-oriented and structured R&D Portfolio and Technology Manager to support our Device Hardware leadership team. This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in strategic planning, resource management, and process development across a global R&D organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for assessing future resource needs across multiple product development streams, helping ensure long-term capacity planning in close collaboration with Device Hardware leadership. You’ll act as a trusted partner, providing insights and guidance on cross-functional planning, while aligning efforts with Lean Portfolio Management and the Value Management Office.

Scenario planning is a key part of the job - you will anticipate challenges in the hardware roadmap and help mitigate risks before they become roadblocks. Your ability to connect strategic vision with operational needs will be crucial in supporting seamless product development in a regulated environment.

As we transition from traditional V-model development to SAFe agile practices, you’ll also help optimize and evolve our planning and reporting methods. Your involvement will be essential in improving our procedures, establishing relevant KPIs, and increasing transparency and predictability throughout our R&D initiatives.

Welcome to Device Hardware

In Device Hardware, you will get 300 new colleagues, primarily with an engineering background, who work every day to push the boundaries of technology to, in the end, help millions of people worldwide with hearing loss.

You will join a team of Hardware Domain Architects in the areas of micro mechanics, electronics, acoustics and chipset. The team is responsible for assessing new technologies and giving long-term technical direction to our hearing aid developments. We cover the different domain competencies across all HW related areas in one Team.

"It’s a really great place to be. We’ve got people straight out of university bringing fresh ideas, and colleagues who’ve spent most of their careers here with tons of experience to share—and together it just clicks," says Michael and continues. "And the best part? We’re all under one roof. If you’ve got a question, you just walk a few steps and there’s someone right there to help."

We are based in Smørum just outside Copenhagen with easy access by public transportation or by car.

Engineer with project, product or portfolio management experience

You most likely have an engineering degree. If you have another background, it’s important that you understand and have worked in an R&D environment.

We imagine you have experience in project, product or portfolio management, with a particular focus on resource planning and scenario-based decision-making. Ideally, you’ve worked in hardware development environments and understand the dynamics of working with cross-functional teams—such as electronics, chipsets, and micro mechanics.

You understand the different phases of product development from concept phase to mass volume production across the various disciplines working together to develop cutting-edge products.

As this is a role were keeping yourself updated on what’s happening in R&D is key, good communication skills and the ability to work across departments are essential. You should feel comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and skilled at presenting data, insights, and recommendations that support strategic choices.

Because we have moved into SAFe, it’s great if you have already had experience working in the framework. If you are new to it, no worries, we will make sure you get the training needed in your onboarding.

This position does not involve people management.
