Product Owner for R&D, Demant Hearing Aids

Denmark
Smørum

Do you thrive in guiding and motivating teams through change? Are you eager to grow your adaptive leadership? And are you ready to bring your experience in mechanics and/or electroacoustics into a leading role in hardware development of future hearing aids?

About the department

You will be part of the Product Owner and Scrum Master team in Hardware, Styles & Engine in Demant A/S. Joining us, you will also become part of wider agile communities across Demant. As a team we grow Product Ownership and Scrum Mastering to improve value delivery and improve flow - while ensuring a healthy team foundation and dynamics.

The people in the development team are specialists in mechanics and acoustics. The scope is developing next generation hearing aids (RITE and BTE platforms) and updates of existing hearing aids in the Demant hearing aid portfolio.

The Role

You will be Product Owner for an agile development team in an Agile Release Train (ART) working within the SAFe framework. Together with the team, you will deliver complex, high-impact hardware for Demant’s next-generation hearing aids.

Your ability to use your solid technical background to focus on product value, design for manufacturing, usability, prioritizing the backlog and formulating concrete benefits for the end user and Demant are key for your success in your role.

You are ready to grow your agile leadership to drive impactful outcomes in hardware development. You collaborate closely with the Scrum Master to empower and inspire your team for increased delivery of value — while fostering psychological safety, well-being, and a sustainable workload.

The team has many technical stakeholders in different parts of the organization. You will help the team with stakeholder management and in structuring the communication flow to and from the team to optimize for clarity and efficiency.

Your main responsibilities

As Product Owner, your responsibility will be to enable the delivery of value from our product roadmap and business strategy in Demant. You can look forward to the following primary tasks:

  1. Drive Value Delivery: Ensure the team’s roadmap and backlog are meaningful, prioritized, and focused on delivering maximum value to end users and the business.
  2. Foster technical acumen, set Direction and Empower the Team: Clearly communicate goals and expected outcomes, enabling the development team to make informed decisions and take ownership of their work.
  3. Foster Adaptive and Agile Leadership: Act as a trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach—unlocking team potential, balancing well-being and workload, and nurturing a mindset open to change.
  4. Champion Lean-Agile Practices: Use data and hypothesis-driven insights to guide decisions, apply SAFe principles, and encourage systems thinking for continuous improvement.
  5. Facilitate Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication: Structure and manage communication flows with technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and alignment across teams and the organization.

Could we be a match?

We are looking for a servant leader who can coach, guide, and facilitate technical specialists and help them reach their potential and deliver impactful solutions.

You are motivated by delivering valuable products and by using your Lean-Agile leadership to cultivate healthy, productive teams.

You have several years of experience in product development in one of the disciplines of mechanics or electroacoustics. This includes micro mechanical systems with plastic parts from injection molding, surfaces treated for aesthetics or protection, vibroacoustic feedback, production testing, and simulations.  You are familiar with the terms Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly.

You possess a technical acumen to understand technical areas outside your own educational area, and you know how sub systems work together to form a complex product manufactured for consumers expecting the best. Your curiosity and learning mindset will enable you to bridge business, technical, and transformation perspectives.

On the personal side, you are good at communication—open, approachable, and curious about people, technology, and development processes.
