Manager, Hardware, R&D

Denmark
Smørum

Do you have extensive experience in developing people and a solid background in mechanics or electronics engineering? Are you looking for a new opportunity in your career? If so, then have a look at this position.

Line Manager in Device Hardware (DHW) development

Oticon, part of the Demant group, is a large, fast-growing company in the medical-technical industry where our +1000 engineers are committed to deliver high-tech solutions for hearing impaired people worldwide. We are looking for two Line Managers for our R&D Hearing Instrument HW group, responsible for developing all HW designs for Demant’s hearing aid solutions. We act in a SAFe organization where developers are organized in agile teams, with a line-organization behind, responsible for individual employees and developing/maintaining competence areas within HW. We are looking for a Line Manager, joining the line management for each of two ARTs – both having a mixed competence team, but one driving mechanics competence areas and the other driving electronics areas with peers of same background.

Welcome to Styles & Accessories or Styles & Engine

In either of the two parallel line organizations, Styles & Accessories or Styles & Engine, you’ll be leading 15-20 highly skilled engineers designing tomorrow’s hearing solutions. The mission for you will be clear: our growth is achieved through highly skilled and motivated people. You will be responsible for providing guidance, prioritization and development of the team and its members. All inspired by your enthusiasm for people.

You will, furthermore, join the line management leader team, where in collaboration with 3-4 colleagues and your peers you will plan and implement the necessary activities for a smooth daily operation of the group. Moreover, you will contribute to the strategic development of the group and its goals.

Below, you find some of your most important responsibilities:

  • Line Manager for 15-20 development engineers
  • Define and promote technology & competence development for assigned area(s)
  • Long-term development of the entire HW area

Experience in people leadership and transformation

We are looking for candidates with an M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in mechanics or electronics engineering, who have extensive design experience in medical devices, consumer electronics, or similar.

To excel in your new position, it’s essential to possess several years of experience in developing people. You know what it takes to win people for your cause and make them follow you. Not because they must, but because they want to.

We constantly aim to have the best organization and processes in the industry. We are always looking for ways to improve and innovate. As our new Line Manager, you have the experience and know what it takes to guide people through transformations.

It is an advantage if you have prior knowledge working within an agile organization, though you need to be motivated to support your people being successful in their agile teams. In the line, we see ourselves as servant leaders towards the ARTs, removing impediments and supporting where needed to make the ART development machine run smoothly.

People and communication skills

As a person you are characterized by mastering the fine art of leading and developing highly specialized and dedicated employees. Therefore, your organization skills are well developed, and you possess good communication capabilities.

It is natural for you to build professional and productive relationships, not only within the HW group, but also across the entire organization. It is through collaboration and team spirit that we realize our complex solutions.

Leave your fingerprint…

As our new Line Manager, you will have a great influence on both your own team and the direction of the whole group. The job offers a variety of tasks and gives you the possibility to further develop your skills within people leadership. We trust and value your professionalism, experience, and dedication. Your new perspectives, insights and ideas are the cornerstones of our growth, and we encourage you to be creative and structure your workflow with a high degree of freedom.
