Director, Direct Strategic Procurement

You will head the Category Management department at Demant, responsible for sourcing electronics, mechanics, transducers, as well as sales and marketing materials. We will give you an opportunity to develop a motivated team with a significant impact on the strategic initiatives within the Demant hearing aid group and a crucial role in shaping initiatives related to optimizing cost and the supply chain - dealing with several stakeholders throughout R&D and Operations at our different sites worldwide. Your role as Director, Direct Strategic Procurement  

You will be heading a team of Category Managers and project managers located at our headquarter in Smørum just outside Copenhagen and at our manufacturing site in Stettin, Poland.    

Overall, you can look forward to the following responsibilities:  

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive direct procurement strategy that aligns with company goals and values across the organization.  
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop an effective procurement team, creating a culture of engagement, continuous improvement, and innovation.  
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with key internal stakeholders across departments to understand their needs and ensure procurement activities support the business goals.  
• Procurement Excellence: Champion procurement excellence by continuously improving processes, adopting best practices, and driving innovation to achieve operational efficiency and positive outcomes.  
• Cost Optimization: Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and process improvements while maintaining high-quality standards and supplier performance.  
• Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers, ensuring they meet Demant´s quality, cost, and innovation requirements.  
• Compliance: Ensure procurement activities comply with QMS company policies, Sustainability standards, and regulatory requirements.  
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics to inform procurement strategies, monitor performance, and report on key metrics to senior management.  
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with indirect procurement activities, including supplier risks and market fluctuations. 

Experience and a keen interest in Direct Procurement  

Most importantly you have a proven record in developing motivated teams and an eagerness to learn is a prerequisite. You may hold a relevant master's or bachelor's degree with a commercial focus, however and more importantly we look for someone with a genuine interest in procurement. You have a management background within procurement, good leadership skills and have experience of working in an international company.   

In order for you to do well in this position, you have good communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills, as you need to engage with different management levels both internally and externally.   

You are analytical and fact based and have gained your experience from working with development projects. Moreover, you need to have a strategic mindset and are goal- and result-oriented. It's great if you have experience with procurement software and tools, including conducting online tenders, auctions, and RFx processes. If not, you should have a keen interest in learning. 

We expect you to have profound English language skills, as it is our company language.  

You should expect 30-40 travel days per year, as most of our key suppliers are in Asia and other European countries.
