BTE Support Technician
Purpose of the Position/Job Summary:
To comply with the Company’s high standards of service excellence in assembling each hearing instrument proficiently in order to ensure customer satisfaction. To assemble, test, and package various electronic BTE hearing instruments.
Responsibilities
BTE Assembly:
Responsible for satisfactorily performing the following:
- Verify the picked items according to customer’s request.
- Assemble the BTE hearing aid with the speaker unit/molds together.
- Attach other accessories (colour indicators).
- Test the hearing aid (listening test, connection test, range test).
- Package the assembled hearing aid together with the other accessories.
- Refer to relevant Work Instructions specified in QMS for more details and guide-lines.
Common duties for all Technicians in BTE Support:
- Work to achieve the objectives/targets specified by the Manager.
- Support BTE Service and Frontend area.
- Maintain a clean, safe and productive working environment.
- Update the proper work center and information of the order in the system (Navision).
- Report any non-conformity observed on the equipment, PC, Software, tools, and doc-uments that are used in preforming the above assignments.
- Participate in team initiatives or projects.
- Assist other technicians as required to accommodate for changes in volume, work flow and/or staffing levels.
- Provide guidance and training to each other when required in order to ensure all technicians are competent in the various areas of production and product knowledge.
- Prepare and maintain records and/or reports as required by the Manager.
- Meet and follow all Company and Departmental standards, policies and procedures regarding turnaround time, rushes, quality, and customer service.
- Adhere to all Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Conduct basic equipment maintenance as necessary.
In addition, this position will perform such tasks related to the production process as di-rected by the Manager or Director of Operations that may not be listed above.
Competencies
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A diploma in Electronics or a re-lated field are preferred.
- Must have an understanding of the principles and theories of electronics.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are necessary.
- Must be detail oriented and have a minimum of 2 years experience in electronics as-sembly or repair.
- A solid understanding of reading and interpreting schematics, charts, and technical manuals.
- Uses various common hand and power tools and precision instruments as required.
- Dependability to work assigned shifts to ensure full coverage. Overtime is occasion-ally worked in order to meet the demands and deadlines associated with the posi-tion.

Problem Solving/Judgement and Decision Making:
Works on production assignments that are semi-repetitive and routine in nature. Proce-dures are clearly defined and straightforward. Routinely follows established processes and procedures. Occasionally consults with Manager - Production or a Senior Technician for assistance with any technical issues that may arise.
Supervision Received:
Primary reporting relationship is typically to a Manager - Production or a Team Lead Technician. Assignments are performed under general supervision, normally receiving instructions on routine work and new assignments.
Supervision Exercised:
Has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and training to less expe-rienced employees in the department or functional area.
Internal and External Contacts:
Routinely interacts with other team members of the Production team and Operational Supervisors/Managers. General interaction with the Director of Operations.
