Web Development Team Lead
Role Summary
The Web Development Team Lead is responsible for leading the day-to-day development, delivery, and technical quality of the organization’s web platforms. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing web solutions that align with business and marketing goals.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery
• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of web applications and websites
• Define and enforce development standards, architecture principles, and best practices
• Review code, ensure quality, performance, security, and accessibility compliance
• Guide technical decision-making, including frameworks, tools, and integrations
• Partner closely with UX, marketing, IT, and product teams on requirements and delivery
Team Leadership & People Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of web developers
• Plan team capacity, sprint priorities, and delivery timelines
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
• Support recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and skills development
Planning & Stakeholder Management
• Translate business and marketing needs into technical solutions
• Estimate effort, manage dependencies, and mitigate technical risks
• Communicate progress, blockers, and trade-offs to stakeholders
• Contribute to web roadmap, platform evolution, and continuous improvement initiatives
Governance & Operations
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), security, and privacy requirements
• Support incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous optimization
• Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and development workflows
Required Qualifications & Experience
• 5+ years of experience in web development (frontend, backend, or full-stack)
• 2+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role
• Strong knowledge of modern web technologies (e.g., JavaScript frameworks, APIs, CMS, cloud hosting)
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Proven ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders
