We are now hiring a Senior Software Architect who will be accountable for the Low Level embedded software (also called Firmware) architecture in Demant’s Embedded hearing aid solutions. The role of an architect is very central, and you will be working closely with all elements of the product development - from product portfolio via architecture and platforms and all the way to the final product.

Our team
As Senior Software Architect for our Low-Level embedded Software, you will be a part of our Connectivity & Embedded Software group in R&D and positioned in a leader team consisting of line managers, other architects, and product owners.
You will be accountable for the big and challenging task of defining and setting the direction for the fundamental architecture in our embedded software platforms, which are used in the Demant Hearing Instrument solutions.
At Demant we do - to a large degree - develop all elements of the products as in house development: ICs, electronics, mechanics, and software, which provides you with an opportunity to influence the architecture of neighboring areas to optimize and improve the overall solution. This vertical integration, we believe, is a key cornerstone in staying competitive in a marked driven by bleeding edge technology.
Tasks & Responsibilities
You will be part of a team of embedded software architects who together with our system architects ensure technical alignment of all our agile teams and feature areas. Your tasks will include delivering on long-term strategic level as well as driving tactical and operational decisions for on-going development through your technical leadership.
In general, your work will be centered around:
- Architect complex embedded software for SoC (System on Chip) and COTS (Commercial-off-the-shelf) based hearing aid solutions.
- Ensuring that the next generation hearing aid SoC/IC designs are optimized for SW development.
- Development strategies and deep understanding of various methods for front loading development (simula-tion, FPGA, etc.)
- Define and maintain the technology strategy for our future embedded software platforms.
- Define and review concept for future technologies and features.
- Having an eye on our efficiency within your area – with regards to technologies used, supporting tools, de-velopment infrastructure and verification strategy
Your toolbox
You hold a MSc in Software Engineering or similar combined with at least 5 years of work experience within software architecture - more specifically:
- Solid understanding of embedded architectures running in an RTOS or microkernel environment
- Proven understanding of embedded software development and the corresponding product life cycle process
- Architecture of small embedded systems
- Low-level embedded programming in C
- Understanding of processor architectures, real-time operating systems and real-time handling of HW
- Ability to understand and analyze digital design, with a SW architecture perspective.
- Familiar with build and development flow tools like SCons, Gerrit, PYTHON, Docker, GIT etc.
- Preferably (but not required) you understand DSP technology in general and the processes related to audio signal acquisition.
- Experience with Scrum and Agile ways of working
