Do you want to contribute hands-on to the future of hearing care and help your and your teams’ ideas come to life?

At Demant, we shape the future of audiological solutions to make a real difference in the life of our hearing aid users. We bring the latest technological innovations together in the challenging and constrained form factor that is a hearing aid. Thriving for an efficient codebase and having a good nose for code optimizations are what make the difference between an ambitious idea and an actual implementation on our platform. Would you like to be part of that journey?

The role

Developing hearing aid solutions involves a complex system with many parts working in concert.

The audiological solutions group takes the initiative in hearing aid feature development, advancing novel ideas and hardware through the essential processes to bring a commercial product to fruition.

As an embedded software developer sitting in a cross-functional team, you take part in an iterative development process by implementing embedded code at all levels between prototype and production code, all the while providing expertise on our platform and guiding the team toward feasible solutions.

You can expect the following responsibilities in your new role:

  • C programming of digital signal processing (DSP) in a multi-core, real-time environment
  • Implementation and maintenance of automated tests using Matlab and Simulink
  • Code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions with other embedded software developers
  • Low-level debugging and performance assessments of DSP algorithms and their implementation
  • Participate in your team’s brainstorming around audiological features, in particular sharing your insights on feasibility and memory, cycle, and power consumption

The team

Your new position is based at our Smørum, Denmark, headquarters, where you'll be part of a cross-functional and diverse team consisting of 7 developers (including one other embedded software developer, DSP and audiology engineers, a test engineer, and a clinical audiologist), a Scrum Master/Team Coach, and a Product Owner working within an Agile framework, using SAFe methodologies. Teams are working with high autonomy all the way from an idea to a product, with support from the business side to set future directions. Innovation and an ability to be creative and challenge existing constructs, is encouraged at every level in our organization.  #LI-HYBRID #LI-CC1

About you

You have experience developing real-time embedded software, and a good understanding of C for embedded systems, either through a former position or from your studies. Specialized knowledge in sound processing, or more generally DSP, is a plus. You are comfortable with version controlling tools (GIT), working in a Linux environment, automated build and test flows (e.g., using TeamCity) and Matlab and its ecosystem. Finally, you don’t shy away from diving deeper into debugging or optimization tasks using tracing tools and Assembler.

You build maintainable quality code and believe in taking responsibility for the full stack of your work, including design, implementation and automated testing. You like to work in a team, and you are good at reaching out to your colleagues for getting or providing input. You are interested in collaborating with other roles on a daily basis and find deep motivation in helping your team achieve success.
