Project and M&A Tax Specialist - Demant

In this newly created position, you are doing all the fun parts of tax within M&A as well as tax projects from a Danish and international perspective.

As a global partner you are driving tax M&A from structuring the acquisition to the post-closing integration of the acquisition in close cooperation with Stefan Funch-Jarlbæk, Head of Tax Projects & M&A.

You will also manage and implement tax projects that have a large impact on the business in Demant.

All this you will be doing in a company that is a key driver behind improving quality of life for thousands of hearing aids end-users around the world.

Demant – a company with a mission

A bit unusual for a company both developing and producing its own products; we have our own retail chain.

We have an ambitious acquisition strategy. In 2022 we bought a retail chain in China called Sheng Wang with 400 shops. This year we bought Dansk HøreCenter in Denmark with 37 shops. We usually have around 120-150 acquisitions per year where the size of the acquisitions varies.

We are not slowing our pace in expanding Demant domestically and abroad. This is where you come in, so we can do it in a tax efficient way.

Newly created position

Working on projects involving the entire Demant Group is inspiring. You will experience a lot of trust in the organization.

Your closest colleagues are Group Tax, Local- and Global Finance and external advisors.

The main tasks in your job are to handle the international tax projects, mergers and acquisitions within Demant group alongside Stefan.

You have direct influence on the tax projects and the tax aspects of acquisitions and will bring a lot of value to the department and the Demant Group.

The job will include:

  • Performing tax due diligence on new acquisitions including tax structuring, Share Purchase Agreements (SPA) reviews and post-closing integration tax related tasks.
  • Liaising with tax authorities on various tax audits.
  • Providing international tax advice on restructurings and reorganizations of the business.
  • Partnering with the business to support their activities from an international tax perspective.
  • Handling the monthly DAC6 reporting.
  • Managing tax projects e.g. Intellectual Property transfers (IP) and Mergers/Demergers as well as other restructures.

As our first Project and M&A Tax Specialist you can expect to have more colleagues with similar profile during the next couple of years.

The job is located at headquarters in Smørum, from where you have the possibility to work from home up to two days per week. For us it is important that our private life works together with our working life.

The Group Tax team

Your team consists of 11 enthusiastic, highly skilled and experienced colleagues within transfer pricing, corporate income tax and VAT.

We have good energy in our team. We collaborate easily and have focus on supporting each other. We like to go eat lunch together in our nice canteen and talk about other things than just work.

Your manager is Stefan Funch-Jarlbæk, Head of Tax Projects & M&A. He is a big fan of situational management and will do his best to give you exactly the management style you need to thrive and develop best both personally and professionally. Our culture is defined by acknowledgment.

Your background

You hold an MSc. in Business Administration and Commercial Law or in another relevant law/finance degree combined with 4+ years of relevant experience within M&A and tax – it could either be in Danish tax or international tax.

We imagine you to come from a larger in-house finance function with focus on tax or from an advisory or accounting firm.

You are well versed in the laws of tax including the interaction between them and double taxation agreements. You understand and connect with the business to deliver best in class tax advice.

You have tax and analytical skills combined with good interpersonal skills. Professionally, you pay attention to the details, but you also take great pride in delivering your tasks and crossing the finish line.

As a person, you can look at a problem from both a strategic and pragmatic point of view. You pursue the win, but in a humble way, both in your approach to tasks and in your communication with others.

You must be fluent in English, both written and spoken, as this is our company language.

Come join a great team!

Send us your application as soon as possible and no later than October 13th, 2024.

We expect to hold 1st round of interviews in week 43.
