Assistant Management Accountant (Fixed-Term Contract)

Location: Maidstone Support Centre
Contract: Full-Time, 12 month Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

We're looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team during an exciting period of business transformation following a major acquisition. This is an excellent opportunity for someone actively studying towards an accounting qualification, or planning to begin their studies, who is eager to develop their skills within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

You'll gain hands-on experience across management accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, statutory reporting, tax, audit support, and business partnering, providing an excellent foundation for a long-term career in finance.

About The Role

  • Supporting month-end reporting processes and ensuring reporting deadlines are achieved.
  • Preparing and taking ownership of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Producing Company, Departmental, and Regional Profit & Loss reports.
  • Assisting with year-end statutory audit requirements and responding to audit requests.
  • Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts, tax returns, and national statistics submissions.
  • Assisting with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Working closely with the analyst team to understand business performance drivers.
  • Supporting financial analysis for new business initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Conducting variance analysis and working with budget holders to review performance.
  • Producing ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making.
  • Building strong working relationships with stakeholders across Head Office and field-based teams.

About You

We're looking for someone who is motivated, analytical, and eager to learn.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Actively studying towards, or intending to commence, an ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and complex formulas.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • A genuine desire to learn and build a successful career within finance.

Desirable

  • Exposure to Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience manipulating and analysing large data sets.
